ACADEMICS.web.id – “Indeed, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said during his Farewell Pilgrimage (the last pilgrimage of Prophet Muhammad): ‘Listen well, O people,’ then he said: ‘Do not return to disbelief after I am gone, killing and fighting one another.’” (Narrated by Bukhari)
After praising and thanking Allah SWT, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) then conveyed,
“O people, listen carefully to what I am about to say. I do not know if I will ever meet you all again after this year. Therefore, listen closely to my words and convey them to those who are not present here today.”
“O people, just as you regard this month and this city as sacred, regard the life and property of every Muslim as a sacred trust. Return the goods entrusted to you to their rightful owners. Do not harm anyone, so that no one will harm you.”
“Remember that you will indeed meet your Lord, and He will surely reckon all your deeds. Allah has forbidden usury; therefore, all dealings involving usury are to be cancelled as of now.”
“Beware of Satan for the safety of your religion. He has lost hope of leading you astray in major matters, so beware of following him in minor ones.”
“O people, you have rights over your wives, and they also have rights over you. If they fulfill their rights over you, then they deserve to be fed and clothed in kindness.”
“Treat your women well and be gentle with them for they are your companions and committed helpers. And your rights over them are that they do not allow anyone you dislike into your homes and do not commit adultery.”
“O people, listen sincerely to my words. Worship Allah, perform the five daily prayers, fast during the month of Ramadan, and give zakat from your wealth. Perform the pilgrimage (Hajj) if you are able to do so.”
“Know that every Muslim is a brother to every other Muslim. You are all equal; no one has superiority over another except by piety and good deeds.”
“Remember, that you will meet Allah on a day to account for your deeds. Therefore, be careful not to stray from the path of righteousness after I am gone.”
“O people, there will be no prophet or messenger coming after me and no new religion will be born. Therefore, O people, ponder well and understand the words I have conveyed to you.”
“I leave you with two things, which if you hold fast to and follow, you will never go astray: the Qur’an and my Sunnah.”
